Jacksonville Beach (MM 747.6)... 

March 27, 2023 

We passed through the Bridge of Lions heading north to Jacksonville Beach.



As we traveled up the Intracoastal Waterway, we saw beautiful homes on the water along with nice piers, boat houses, and boats.  The first one was very nice below and could easily see myself living in it.


This one well let's say, it's too big for me and too many windows to clean.


We had a pretty uneventful 3 hour travel going north on the Intracoastal.  Unfortunately, our friends on Bama Breeze that we did the Gulf crossing with ran aground a few miles past St Augustine.  Danny offered to try and pull them off the shoal but he called Boat US to help him.  When we tried to attempt to get near him to throw a line we went from 9 feet under the boat to 2 in a matter of seconds.  YIKES!  We texted with him and they got to Jacksonville.  Glad Rusty and Darlene are safe.

The marina we stopped at is in Jacksonville Beach, Windward Marina.  We walked down the main road to the beach about a mile and a half.  Most places including the museum I wanted to see are closed on Monday.  You know Danny was broken hearted when he found out.  Good Trivia point- Jacksonville is the largest city by land mass in the contiguous US as of 1968 when a number of towns consolidated to become Jacksonville.  It is 840 square miles.  The consolidation in 1968 was sold as combining services for the smaller towns, some question whether this has been true.  

What we noticed is there is bad traffic!

We had a group of Dragon Boat racers pass by the boat.  There were 2 boats practicing.

         The Other Woman rests as we prepare to travel to Fernandina Beach, our last stop in Florida.

We were awoken this morning about 4am by a good wake.  We did not go out to look as to what was going on but Danny woke up screaming- "What did you do, what did you do?"  Of course it was my fault.... no comment😖

                  The Mighty Mississippi...  October 11 - 18, 2023                       Danny on the banks of the Mississippi River from both the north and south. The Ohio River to the Cumberland River to  Cross the Finishing Line at Grand Rivers! October 18 - 19,  2023 Our traveling down the last 7.7 miles of the Mississippi River were uneventful.  Clear skies remained with us throughout the day.  At Cairo, Illinois (pronounced Karo, like the syrup), we turned onto the Ohio River.  At this point seen in the picture, it is considered the lowest point in Illinois.  At one time, Fort Defiance stood here in the Civil War.  There was a great deal of activity on the water comparable almost to St Louis.  Barges coming, going, and loading.  Not that Danny isn't but, definitely had to be vigilant in what was going on in front and on the sides of your boat.  Above we are turning off the Mississippi on to the Ohio River. Clearwater and St Petersburg, Florida... January 9, 2023 We talked with our fellow loopers before we left to pick up words of wisdom before we were off to St Petersburg.  I would have liked to go on "the inside" or intercoastal waterway but we went on "the outside" or the Gulf of Mexico.  There were a few shallow areas that concerned Danny on the intercostal.  I'm sure I would have seen more birds and wildlife on the inside but we did see this couple checking their stone crab pots in the Gulf.       This beautiful pink structure is the Don Cesar Resort where I had gone to a conference years ago.
