Behind the Scenes on "The Other Woman"...

Since we took some time off to babysit between Christmas and New Year's, I thought I would tell you a little about our "routine" while we are on the boat.  The Other Woman has 2 bedrooms with 1 bathroom that includes a shower, sitting area with kitchen and dining table that looks out to outside where you can see light.  It was important to me that the kitchen was above to see out the window.  Some boats have kitchens that go downstairs.  We have 2 engines, this was one of Danny's requirements as he has seen people on boats when their one engine goes out and be floating around without any control or power.  He did not want to be one of those people.  The outside upper deck has plenty of sitting area under roof and an open back area with an electrical grill, ice maker, and sink.  Chairs and bike are stored up there as well.

The Master Bedroom...

Sleeps like a queen and we both sleep very well!  This was one of my main concerns, so that's worked out great.  In addition to the bed on one side there are drawers and small hanging area for clothes on Danny's side.  On the other side are the longer closets which are not as deep and is on my side.  I have a small counter to hold my chargers, glasses, and ear plugs.  I have a new bedspread coming sometime in late January-February.

Guest Bedroom...

The guest bedroom has 2 twin beds and one small closet where I have some hanging clothes.  Those clothes you see that are hanging up are actually going back to Siesta Key later in January as we bought too many clothes.  Yes, BOTH of us brought too many   clothes 😀.  There is also a box of items to return as well.  I brought my needlepoint but I am trying to decide will I get the time to work on it.

Kitchen and Living Space...

This is where we spend most of our time when not operating the boat due to the weather we have had to date.  Danny also operated the boat on the really cold days and rainy weather coming down the inland rivers from Kentucky.  It was nice because it was warm and you could do different things within the cabin without going up and down the stairs outside.  We replaced the microwave early on our trip down and now I can get my popcorn popped in 2 minutes without wasted kernels- very important 😊!  Danny also put in a TV next to the microwave and stove which I realized when I did the pictures, did not include that item but you can see the black edge stick out a little.  Of course, it has a "large"screen and swivels out so Danny can watch sports whenever possible (Think Cowboys, until they blow it again!)

Our kitchen has overhead cabinets for plates, bowls, and cups.  Below the microwave is the oven and stove.  The lower cabinets have food for items that don't need refrigeration.  The refrigerator is below the TV and next to microwave/oven/stove.

Bathroom...

So we have the one bathroom as the pictures pretty much tell the story.  We try to take our showers at the marinas when we can as there is more room to take a shower and more room to spread items around.  Of course, that is specifically my opinion.  The white bag hanging in the shower has everything in it for the marina shower.  The gray bag is for the dirty laundry.

Outdoor spaces...

Coming out of the living space are 2 double glass doors with some space for sitting and also for lines and  floats. We also get on the boat at the back (stern) and I prefer the right (starboard) side because I have one additional support I can hold onto so I don't look like an idiot slipping or falling into the water but sometimes we have to use the left (port) side.  You can also see the dinghy on the back which I recently cleaned!

Upstairs, there is a table to sit and enjoy a book, newspaper, or food and a drink.  We have several chairs to open up as well as my fold up bicycle.  You can also see the Starlink- the white rectangle which provides us with internet service. The silver handle in the lower right hand side corner is for the electric grill and below this is the ice maker.

View from the back looking out and then view looking to the back from the front seats.

Operating Systems to make us go...

Danny is able to contort his body to get into these small compartments to check fluids or lack of and everything else related to engines and all operating systems of the boat.  Our routine when we are traveling is Danny will check all operating systems and fluids the evening before when we leave real early or very first thing in the morning.  My job is to make sure that everything is put away to not fall, get thrown, or break while traveling.  Make sure toilet seat is secured and frig and freezer are locked down.  Get ice out of the upstairs ice maker and take downstairs to put in the freezer.

The Washer/Dryer...

I saved the best for last.  When we were looking at boats some had an additional refrigerator and others had a washer and dryer.  My preference was for 2 refrigerators as I figured I would have enough clothes to wash twice a week and could do that at the marina.  When Danny found this boat it had the washer and dryer.  Ok so thats fine, the boat was what we wanted so we went with it.  As we started the Loop, many of the marinas did not have working dryers.  So having washed clothes but no way to dry...I was glad we had what we had.  Did a number of loads of clothes and everything was fine. Then.... we could not complete a load of wash to save our lives.  At first, I was blamed.  Jenny, you are putting too much in the washer.  The manual said 2.2 pounds of clothes.  Ok, I was physically removing clothes and squeezing water out so they could just dry.  We tried different settings and different dry times.  No luck.  Operator Manual consulted again, called the company and we needed a model number.  Look at the picture, the model number is not easily found, back to Danny thinking what could be wrong.  He thinks something is blocking the system from operating.  There were bounce sheets found blocking the system.  We were back in business.  Next load, same thing but there were not too many items in the machine, what now... Danny's floss picks and coins!  Now we happily have a fully functioning washer and dryer with anything put into it having empty pockets, no dryer sheets, and assessment of the weight thought to be going into the machine.

Hopefully you have enjoyed a bird's eye view of our living space
